I was installing a fresh VM in my VMWare Fusion environment this morning, a nice new Windows XP SP3 install.
Everything was going along great until Windows said there was an update for my audio driver, so I accepted it without thinking.
Problem is, I had no audio after it was installed.

Summary: Roll back to the previous Creative AudioPCI driver that was installed and you'll have your sound back. The updated driver does not work under VMWare.
